Dr. Ruby Pritchard - Osteopath

BSc (ClinSc) MHSc (Osteopathy)

Ruby is a qualified and registered osteopath who completed her Bachelor of Clinical Science and Masters of Osteopathy at Victoria University.

From a young age Ruby developed a keen desire to help those within the community. This passion, coupled with her strong interest in the profound workings of the human body, helped Ruby realise her future was one that would be dedicated to osteopathy.

While completing her studies, Ruby worked as a football trainer for the Oakleigh District Football Club in the Southern Football Netball League, where she worked closely with players in conditioning, game preparation and injury rehabilitation.

In her final year of studying, Ruby successfully applied for an internship with SALT Health Solutions. This internship offered her the opportunity to travel to India and work alongside leading orthopaedic surgeons and physiotherapists in managing pre- and post-surgical patients, as well as holistically treating a range of musculoskeletal conditions that did not require surgery.

Ruby enjoys treating a wide range of musculoskeletal ailments, from sporting injuries to postural correction.
Her treatments can include deep tissue massage, myofascial release, dry needling, cupping and corrective taping. She emphasises the importance of rehabilitation and educating patients of effective interventions to achieve a quick recovery and maintain optimal health and well-being.

CECILIA graduated as an Osteopath from Victoria University in 2010 after being a qualified Remedial Massage Therapist for 9 years.
She initially set up her own massage business in 2003 where she worked alongside Osteo4Kids and Catherine Howard at Fairfield Podiatry. Cecilia then decided to pursue her dreams and continue her studies in Health Science and become an Osteopath.
In 2010 Cecilia started to work as an Osteopath in Fairfield and Malvern and in 2016 opened her own business in Osteopathy as Osteo4health in Preston.

Cecilia’s interest for Osteopathy developed after having grown up with family who experienced chronic back injuries.
For 12 years Cecilia continued to study at a University level and has completed a Bachelor of Science (Biomedical Science), Masters in Health Science (Human Nutrition), Bachelor of Science (Clinical Science) and a Masters of Health Science (Osteopathy). Together with her multiple degrees and extensive clinical experience, Cecilia is able to incorporate all relevant aspects of her knowledge to provide patients with education about their bodies, promote healthy lifestyles, weight control and provide a holistic approach to treatment by using Osteopathy as a preventative medicine. Cecilia also has two certificates in Dry Needling and Cupping and likes to incorporate these techniques in her treatments, when necessary.

Since working for Osteo4kids & adults Cecilia has become increasingly interested in the treating of babies and children. Cecilia has continued with further studies in the paediatric courses and is interested in paediatric musculoskeletal conditions that present in newborns. Cecilia also enjoys educating children about awareness of their posture through their growth patterns, when using mobile phones/tablets, carrying school back packs and when playing sports.  Cecilia also treats adults of all ages with ongoing chronic musculoskeletal problems, acute sporting injuries, workplace injuries and any day to day aches and pains.

Cecilia enjoys to promote a healthy balanced lifestyle, she likes to go to the gym, do boxing classes and enjoys lots of healthy cooking. She also likes to travel and enjoys learning about different cultures and their languages.
Cecilia speaks Italian fluently and has visited Italy & Europe on many occasions. Cecilia has been privileged to meet some Osteopaths in Italy & Spain and continues to be in contact with them and their research.

August 2016 and October 2017 Cecilia was luck enough to be ask to supervise and tutor Australian osteopathic students doing a placement in a Sports Med Hospital in Mumbai India, where she was working together with a team of surgeons, physiotherapists, radiologist and hospital staff. This experience Cecilia gained further knowledge of pre & post surgery recovery with management  and how different cultures, lifestyles and surroundings affect individuals.

Matthew completed his studies at Victoria University with a Bachelor of Science (Clinical Sciences) and a Masters of Health Science (Osteopathy) after a successful completion of a Bachelor of Biomedical Science with a major in genetics at La Trobe University.  Matthew also has a history as a qualified personal trainer.

Matthew’s science background has lead to a passion for an evidence informed approach to Osteopathy, in particular he holds keen interest in the effective treatment of chronic pain.  As well as finding the root cause of a patients complaint and utilising osteopathic therapy to ease the patients pain, Matthew looks to help the patient better understand their pain and work together with them to create an effective management strategy and ultimately get back to the activities they enjoy.

Additionally, Matthew’s extensive history in sports and exercise, including tennis, karate, muay thai, kickboxing and personal training, has provided a fantastic foundation for the management of sporting related injuries and rehabilitation exercise prescription.

In Matthew’s final year of his Masters he received a scholarship to do an exchange program at the British School of Osteopathy (now the University College of Osteopathy) in London.  This gave him exposure to not only some renowned international practitioners but also to a series of manual therapy specialty clinics including two HIV positive/AIDS clinics, an expectant mother clinic and a children’s clinic.  This experience opened Matthew up to the potential applications of manual therapy in the preservation of quality of life in chronically ill patients, which is an area he hopes to peruse in future endeavors.
